We were GREEN before GREEN was cool!

Did you know that hunters were the original wildlife conservationist? That’s right. Centuries ago our ancestors recognized that to provide game for our families so that we could thrive and grow, we had to maintain a healthy and productive environment for wildlife to thrive. Through intelligent conservation and responsible harvesting of game our heritage has lasted.  It is up to us to practice conservation and educate our youth to ensure these traditions carry on into the future.

It should also be noted that funding for range improvements were provided through: The DNR Game and Fish Fund from a 2015 MN Legislature Appropriation. Additionally, on site improvements were also funded in part by the NRA (National Rifle Association).

Firearm Safety Training for Youth

Each spring and fall the Monticello Rod and Gun Club offers Firearms Safety Training for Youth. We have a team of experienced instructors who have earned Minnesota DNR certification as Firearm Safety Instructors. Not only do students receive the required information to pass the DNR Hunter Safety test, but they also have access to more than 100 years of combined hunting experience offered by our instructors. CAPABLE PARTNERS Inc.

At the September 23, 2021 MRGC Membership Meeting, a plaque was presented to our club from Capable Partners Inc. for “Extraordinary service and generosity enabling  many physically challenged individuals to experience the joys of hunting, fishing and the great outdoors.” Over the years MRGC has hosted a special rifle site in for handicapped individuals and has organized special events for fishing and hunting for physically challenged people. This is one of the ways our club gives back to community.

We are a private club but we “welcome the public” to join us for these activities –
