Youth Firearms Safety Training

The Minnesota DNR has a Youth Firearms Safety class whereby students can take the classroom training online or in-person with a certified trainer (visit the MN DNR webpage for more details by using the link above).

Additionally, all students must complete a field/range day training. Youth Firearms instructors will be using the the gun club for their Field/Range day training at Monticello Rod and Gun Club. Anytime there is use of the range for youth training the board has determined that the entire range will be closed to membership use during that time. This provides additional safety and less distraction for youth training on the range when they have reserved a specific date/time. All range bays will be closed to membership during these times which are typically only half days (9am to 1 pm) with ranges available and open again the remainder of the day. Please check the club website calendar for dates/times. Thank you for your understanding!

At times, MRGC has the ability to refer potential students for classroom training when available. Currently, classroom training is scheduled for Monday, September 13, 2021 at 6:30 pm. It will be held at Monticello High School. Register at the training. Don’t delay – these youth classes are in great demand and will fill up quickly.
